Catherine Owers
Our principle Chiropractor Catherine Owers graduated from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic in Glamorgan, in 2002 – achieving a first class honours degree after 4 years of full-time university study. She then undertook her pre-registration training year as a Chiropractor at Cheltenham Chiropractic Clinic learning from clinic founder Rita Hemmings and has been here ever since!
As well as working in Cheltenham, Catherine also ran her own part-time clinic in Malvern for 10 years but she has now merged this with the Cheltenham practice and works here full time. In 2015 Clinic founder Rita Hemmings retired and Catherine took over directorship of Cheltenham Chiropractic Clinic and moved it to it’s new location at PURE offices behind the Nuffield Hospital.
Correcting postural problems and improving ergonomics are very important to Catherine’s success in treating patients and she also has a special interest in treating sports injuries and headaches, as well as using spinal rehabilitation to reduce the chances of mechanical dysfunctions recurring. She enjoys working with sports people and has treated high-level athletes from the fields of athletics, rugby, football, horse racing and weight lifting. Catherine uses several different spinal manipulation techniques as well as muscle release work and postural rehabilitation to maximise patient recovery – she strongly believes that treatment should be tailored to each individual patient so every case is different. In nearly 21 years in private practice she has built up significant experience and will confidently refer patients on for imaging or consultant referral if she feels this is the best option for them.
Catherine lives near Pershore and enjoys Pilates, gardening, cooking and country walks (especially if there is a tea room or pub involved!) She is also a member of the Almost Athletes running club and has completed 4 half marathons, so has insider knowledge on running injuries!
Catherine is a fully government registered chiropractor with the General Chiropractic Council (https://www.gcc-uk.org/) is a member of the British Chiropractic Association (https://chiropractic-uk.co.uk/) and has Enhanced CRB clearance.
